LARA® can handle extremely high dynamic ranges, which means that the audio signal can flow free of distortion or compression maintaining music sonic balance and dynamics, regardless of the reproduction level.
Oversized amplification guarantees high performance and ultra-low distortion.
Having one amplifier per system optimizes the performance of all the components and reduces power consumption.
All amplifiers are class D; the onboard LARA® amplifier provides a total of 6000 Wrms in 8 channels, 3 of these are in bridge mode feeding the 2 x 12" and the 2 compression drivers. The remaining 2 channels feed the 2 x front-facing 8" and the 2 x rear-facing 8".
The LARA SUB® amplifier provides 3600 Wrms in 6 channels, all in bridge mode, feeding individually each of the three 18", 2 front-facing and one rear-facing. In addition, each amplifier integrates a switching power supply with power factor correction (PFC) guaranteeing maximum power regardless of the mains voltage.
Both LARA® and LARA SUB® are cardioid systems. This significantly reduces the level of sound spilling onto the stage and mitigates noise pollution beyond the perimeter of any large event.
LARA® and LARA SUB® provide a remarkable attenuation in the low-frequency domain behind the array of 15dB (63Hz-200Hz) and 14 dB (30Hz-80Hz) respectively, improving conditions for engineers, musicians and promoters.
This is achieved thanks to the system's symmetrical design and the optimal placement of the transducers: For low frequencies, uniform horizontal coverage from 100Hz upwards is achieved by way of optimal physical placement of the rear 8" at 45º. For midrange, uniform horizontal coverage from 200Hz upwards is achieved by way of integrating the transducers in the waveguide of the high-frequency section. These technological innovations ensure uniformity in the horizontal plane, while the use of DASaimTM optimizes coverage in the vertical plane. The end result is truly amazing.
So much power would be of no use without the right tools to control it. The system incorporates a powerful DSP that works at a sampling rate of 96KHz and can deliver 1.2 GMACS of compute performance. It also includes AD (4x) and DA (8x) converters with Multipath technology for a dynamic range greater than 120dB.
The 32-bit floating-point microcontroller unit integrated in the system maximizes interaction with the user and the DSP, as well as guaranteeing secure, high-speed Ethernet communication for system control and monitoring via ALMATM. To facilitate the interconnection of systems, each cabinet has an internal switch, thus avoiding the use of external switches. The system constantly monitors internal temperature, amplifier protections, current and output voltages and impedance of every transducer ensuring optimal and safe system performance and extending the life of all components.
The DSP allows internal processing of FIR filters (for every system), parametric equalization, HOS (High-Order-Shelving filters) as well as RMS and excursion limiters per way. Additionally, thanks to the oversized DSP, it is possible to process the Array with group equalization via ALMATM, with no need for an external processing unit.

DASAim
Not only can the systems process new FIR filters utilizing DASaim, but all LARA® units have onboard FIR filters which provide a constant phase response that translates into sharp sound and exceptional clarity, providing a superior and improved listening experience.
The systems incorporate a diagnostic function (impedance and frequency response measurements) that allows the user to check the system status without the need of external software. This functionality is accessible from the rear panel of each amplifier.
DASaimTM is the high-tech solution developed by DAS Audio for vertical dispersion control. DASaimTM uses AFMG® FIRmaker® technology to design custom FIR filters and load them onto the systems.
Controlling the vertical dispersion pattern lets the user achieve several goals: uniform frequency response from front-to-back, spectral consistency, avoidance of architectural structures and SPL control over distance.
ARA-RACKs are in charge of the signal and power distribution for the LARA® systems. ALMATM incorporates IP network communication for quick and reliable control and monitoring of the units, incorporating an internal Ethernet switch to enable connections between several units.
Every ARA-rack is equipped with a three-phase power distributor (115V, 208V and 230V versions available) that feeds a patch with six PowerCon outputs or one multipin Socapex output with 6 circuits. The engineer can select power distribution for systems with PowerCon or multipin Socapex cabling.
Audio and monitoring data is sent to the systems using the Matrix-66 connection patch. With one Cat7 cable (ECPK-20 or EC-20), audio can be sent along with control data, with no need for an additional third cable, resulting in neat, quick and intuitive cable setups.
The FSSTM (Fast Set Splay) rigging system to splay angles from the ground-stack position in 1° steps, from 0° to 7°, combined with the three new rigging points streamline processes and reduce assembly time significantly.
The rigging system uses the same bumper for LARA® and LARA SUB®, which allows to fly arrays of up to 24 LARA® units and 16 LARA SUB® units.
