“An Almost Spiritual Experience”

León Guallart is a multidisciplinary artist who combines music, film, and architecture to explore new forms of dialogue between art and space. Trained between Barcelona and Los Angeles, his musical work is defined by an ambient and emotional aesthetic, where the piano serves as the main instrument, accompanied by orchestral arrangements, electronic layers, and choral elements. Comfort is an introspective piece composed during a long winter in the Aragonese Pyrenees. More than just an album, Comfort is a sonic refuge that also gives its name to his first stage project: the Comfort: Home Tour.

This deeply personal tour has led León to perform in some of the most unique houses and architectural spaces in Europe, Mexico, and the United States, each handpicked not only for its beauty, but for the kind of intimate conversation it could establish with his music. As he explains: “A narrative was created for these places, and the premise was to visit them to celebrate them through these musical evenings”.

From the Dominican church turned bookstore in Maastricht to Frank Lloyd Wright’s legendary Fallingwater or the sculptural Espai Corberó in Barcelona, each concert has been crafted as an experience to make the space vibrate through sound. In León’s own words: “In places like the Farnsworth House or Fallingwater, it was an almost spiritual experience”.

His intention with this tour was to bring life back to spaces with memory: “These concerts are about filling spaces that had been lost. They were once living homes, and now they seem like mausoleums or museums”.

A Solo Tour That Required Systems That Were Easy to Set Up, Reliable, and Portable

The Comfort: Home Tour was far from a conventional tour. León Guallart travelled through Europe, Mexico, and the United States without a technical team, manager, or external production. He personally selected each destination, handled the logistics, transportation, and set up for every concert. This meant not only planning an international route, but also facing the everyday demands of touring: constant travel, tight schedules, and venues that changed with every stop. As León explained: “It was really tough, with a different place every day and many hours on the road. The most demanding part wasn’t the concerts, but the touring experience itself”.

On top of that personal effort came the need for a sound system that could be with him at all times. It had to be lightweight and easy to transport, but also quick to set up and reliable in performance. León couldn’t afford to waste time on complex configurations or rely on additional gear to bring his music to life.

Furthermore, the types of spaces he chose — historic homes, repurposed churches, private villas, or icons of modern architecture — required a technical solution that was versatile and adaptable. Each location presented different challenges in terms of acoustics, layout, and size, and called for an intuitive setup that could be adjusted on the spot. There was also a visual aspect: the systems had to blend aesthetically into settings with high architectural value, without disrupting the atmosphere León wanted to create in his concerts.

To tackle the technical and logistical challenges of the tour, León Guallart relied on two ALTEA-DUO-20A systems, a self-powered solution that perfectly fit his needs. Their light weight and compact design made them easy to transport: “They fit in the passenger seat of the car, let’s say”. The ease with which he could carry the gear from one place to another gave the artist peace of mind: “It gives me a lot of confidence on every trip. I never had to worry about how it would sound or whether the acoustics would be okay. I trusted that they would all sound great — and they did”.

Thanks to its built-in electronics, the system required no external mixer or additional amps, which kept the setup process extremely simple: “It’s all super easy. You don’t need a mixing console or to power it from elsewhere. It’s like two cables — one for input and one for power — that’s it”. This simplicity was especially valuable in places with very limited setup time, like Fallingwater, where he had barely half an hour to prepare the concert: “At Fallingwater, we were given only half an hour to set up, and we did it even faster. I usually need two or three hours, but in this case it felt like a Formula 1 pit stop”.

Beyond practicality, the ALTEAs also performed excellently in terms of acoustics and aesthetics. The wide variety of architectural spaces demanded a solution that could adapt to each environment without becoming visually intrusive. In León’s words: “The ALTEAs are very discreet — they’re columns that can integrate really well into any space”.

Bringing Places with Memory Back to Life Through DAS Audio Sound

The Comfort: Home Tour, conceived and carried out entirely by León Guallart, was an exercise in complete artistic autonomy: he selected all the destinations, managed all transportation, carried the equipment, and set up every concert without any permanent technical support. In this context, two ALTEA-DUO-20A systems — chosen for their compact design, ease of assembly, and visual integration — proved essential for making a tour of this nature viable.

León himself acknowledged the impact the system had on the audience’s perception: “People who had attended previous editions… the first thing they told me was that the sound had improved and that it elevated their experience”.

Beyond the technical aspects, the tour also fulfilled an emotional and symbolic purpose: to revitalise spaces that had fallen silent. As the artist explains: “That’s how I would describe it — like giving these spaces a massage through sound”. His goal was to reconnect these places with their original essence: “At a certain point in their history, they were homes — there were people living there, shouting, playing music, cooking, throwing parties. There was life. Now they’ve become almost like museums… people analyse them in a very clinical way, like under a magnifying glass, but really: it’s a house”.

Thanks to the portability and versatility of the ALTEA systems — and to León’s artistic commitment — each concert was a complete experience where technology served both the space and the emotion. The result was a tour that not only brought his music to unique settings, but also — just as he intended — made spaces that deserved to feel alive once again truly resonate.
