Peñarol Montevideo Stadium

The recently inaugurated Estadio Campeón del Siglo in Montevideo is a state-of-the-art facility with an impressive DAS professional sound system to match. Home field of the Club Atlético Peñarol soccer team, current First Division champions, the stadium seats 40,000 spectators and features a range of additional facilities like the club museum, administrative offices and retail spaces.

After evaluating several options and performing a series of acoustic simulations, the stadium’s technical mangers designed a sound solution drawn from DAS Audio extensive product catalog, installing a range of Event Line Array powered systems.

A total of 30 DAS Event-210A three-way powered line arrays were deployed on mobile platforms of two units each to provide uniform sound for the stadium stands, with each pair angled for near field and far field coverage. Three platforms with two Event-210A systems were set up behind each of the goals, five platforms were rigged the lateral stands facing the main stand and four platforms in the stands themselves.

The DAS Audio Event-210A is a three-way powered line array in a double 10” “dual-band” configuration which provides a wider frequency range. The DAS loudspeakers have been teamed up with a 1.5″ compression driver and purpose-designed injected aluminum high frequency waveguide.

The Event-210A line array is powered by a three channel Class D amplifier and DAS’s Easy-DSP™ interface, which simplifies preset selection for the number of units and throw depth. Its high-grade birch cabinet design and durable ISO-flex finish make it the perfect choice for large-scale installations like the Estadio Campeón del Siglo.

Montevideo’s Estadio Campeón del Siglo, also known as the Estadio de Peñarol, owes its names to the massive success of the Club Atlético Peñarol. The club was chosen as the South American Club of the Century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) in 2009 in recognition of its long track record of wins, both in the Uruguayan championship and at continental level.
