Festival Les Arts 2016

The Festival de Les Arts –a newer addition to the list of must-attend events on the Spanish festival calendar– recently celebrated its second annual event in Valencia. As a regular fixture at many of these festivals, DAS systems were once again on hand at Les Arts to guarantee superb sound for an outstanding national and international line-up that included Love of Lesbian, Hurts, The Drums and The Strypes.

Over 35,000 festival-goers descended on Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences complex for this two-day celebration of music and the arts. Full-service company Fluge was called in to handle the technical production and teamed up with long-time partner DAS Audio, setting up systems from DAS Audio’s extensive product catalog on all three festival stages.

Fluge rolled out 24 large-format DAS Aero-50 line array systems for the Negrita main stage, which required a robust PA. The Aero-50s were flown in two hangs of 12 units each on either side of the stage and paired with 18 high-performance DAS UX-221A powered subwoofers, which were deployed in two blocks of nine cabinets under each hang for exceptional low-frequency punch.

Fluge employed DAS Convert series systems for front fill duty, while a combination of Convert systems with LX-218CA subwoofers took care of side fill. The constant stream of artists that crossed the stage over the festival also had a battery of self-powered DAS Road Series stage monitors at their service. The set-up at the Negrita stage was rounded out by a delay system equipped with the powered Aero-40A ALAS™ (Advanced Line Array System) to provide even sound coverage for the length of the audience.

The system deployed at the Coolway stage was no less impressive, with nine Aero-50s flown on either side of the stage matched by eight ground-stacked LX-218CA powered subwoofers. Convert systems were used for front fill, while a combination of Convert/ LX-218CA served as side fill. On stage, the artists were backed up by DAS Series Road stage monitors.

The PA at the smaller Kaiku stage was based on Aero-20A powered systems paired with high-performance LX-218CA subwoofers. The extensive range of DAS Audio gear deployed at each of the festival’s three stages helped make the second Festival de Les Arts another overwhelming success, with festival organizers and fans alike already marking their calendars for next year’s event.
