Ultra Music Festival 2011
The festival was held at Bicentennial Park of Miami and drew more than 100,000 fans
Over the course of its 13-year history, the Ultra Music Festival has grown to become the largest electronic music festival in the United States. Held at Bicentennial Park, with its premium location on downtown Miami´s seafront promenade, this year´s festival drew more than 100,000 electronic music fans over its 3-day duration. The impressive line-up included artists like Duran Duran, Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox, David Guetta and Armin Van Buuren, to name a few.
As in years past, D.A.S. Aero Series 2 sound systems were an integral part of the extraordinary installation that is set-up every year for this festival. A complete radio studio was constructed this year at the massive "A State of Trance 500" stage, from which a continuous 12-hour broadcast was aired in celebration of the 500th episode of the popular radio show "A State of Trance," hosted by the famous Dutch DJ and music producer Armin van Buuren.
A system of considerable size and power was required to provide the sound for such an event: 24 large-format D.A.S. Aero 50 line array systems, set up in two linear formations at either side of the stage, were brought in for the job. The length of the venue proved to be no challenge for the Aero 50 systems-their huge throw capacity provided coverage for the 12 hours of continuous music.
A total of 30 D.A.S. LX-218CA high performance self-powered subwoofer systems were mounted in pairs in front of the stage in for low frequency support. With such an arsenal of subwoofers the system's low-frequency response s was nothing short of brutal.
The side fill work was expertly handled by two linear formations of four self-powered D.A.S. 8A systems, as well as two units of LX-215A self-powered subwoofers, both from D.A.S.´s successful Aero Series 2 line.
D.A.S. Audio of America is headquartered in Miami, and CEO Jaime Villegas, as well as Carlos Henao and Ramón Franco of the Technical Department, attended the event. They were absolutely thrilled with the system´s performance and were congratulated by the organization; D.A.S. is proud to call itself one of the Ultra Music Festival´s permanent concert "providers" for several years running now.
The radio show "A State of Trance" has been on the air for nearly ten years, becoming a point of reference on the airwaves. Armin van Buuren´s widely popular show has an estimated 15 million listeners and is broadcasted by more than 30 stations spread out over 26 countries, in addition to its global satellite and Internet emission.
The audience he draws is so large that his program had its own stage at the Utra Music festival, where D.A.S. Aero Series 2 systems helped bring the 500th broadcast celebration to life.
