SOS 4.8 2012 Festival
D.A.S. Aero Series 2 systems at the SOS 4.8 2012 Festival
D.A.S. Aero Series 2 line array systems once again provided sound for the Festival Estrella de Levante SOS 4.8., a series of concerts spanning several different stages. For two days more than 70,000 people attended the festival’s fifth anniversary, held at Murcia’s La Finca venue. The Jagermeister stage, outfitted with D.A.S. sound systems, brought fans the music of bands likes The Zombie Kids, Yall and the Irish group Delorentos.
Local sound rental company J. Ramírez Sonido was in charge of the sound system for the Jagermeister stage, relying on technical support from D.A.S. Audio for configuration and system management. Twenty-four large format, Aero 50 three-way line array systems were employed as the main sound system on this large-scale stage. Twelve units were mounted on each side of the stage to create two linear formations capable of covering the wide audience area.
In terms of low frequency reinforcement, twenty-four powered D.A.S. LX-218A, ground-stacked in front of the stage, were divided into eight groups of three units each. This provided the system with powerful bass response as well as uniform coverage throughout the whole audience area; the FOH control position was located between 30 metres from the stage.
To cover the near-filed audience area, four self-powered D.A.S. systems from the new Convert series were used, specifically the Convert 12A model, conveniently placed in front of the stage. To carry out side-fill duties, two stacked arrays of three Aero 12A systems and two LX-218A subwoofers were placed on each side of the stage. To meet their individual requirements, the different bands were able to choose from a range of combinations of the new D.A.S. Road Series stage monitors, specifically Road 12A and Road 15A systems.
The Festival Estrella de Levante SOS 4.8 has evolved over the last five years into more than just a musical event: it has become a showcase for different artistic and cultural expressions and now counts itself as one Spain’s main spring/summer music festivals, where D.A.S. Aero Series 2 systems plays a crucial role in making the event a success for bands and fans alike.
