Rain in Jakarta
D.A.S. Audio Asia dispatched Ron Koh in order to provide factory support
Korean pop-idol and heartthrob Jeong Ji Hoon, more widely known as Rain, visited Indonesia last December for his "Legend of Rainism" Asian Tour. DSS (Don Sound Suara) and D.A.S. Audio Asia, partners in Indonesia, were chosen as the preferred audio system providers for this long-anticipated event held at JITEC, Jakarta.
On Rain's previous two tours, Indonesian fans were unable to experience the sensation performer as Jakarta was not included on the tour schedule. Being his first appearance in Indonesia, Rain pulled out all the stops, reaching out to his fans like never before. From the early planning phase to the final production, he was actively involved in the event. As the fans became aware Rain's personal commitment, their expectations grew.
After initial conversations with Rain's touring crew from Seoul Sound, Korea, DSS and D.A.S. Audio were made aware of the crew's needs and concerns. According to the requirements, a decision was made to provide a total of 24 Aero 38 medium format line arrays powered by SLA switch-mode amplifiers, 16 LX-218A and 8 Aero 12A as on-stage side-fills. As Ko Jong Jin, Technical Team Manager from Seoul Sound, mentions, "We have a 20 meter wide stage, and a team of six very dynamic dancers. Thus, we need high sound pressure levels on-stage."
As usual with events as important as this one, D.A.S. Audio Asia dispatched Ron Koh, D.A.S. Technical Support Representative, to Jakarta in order to provide factory support as it was Seoul Sound's first time at the commands of an Aero line array in a concert environment. As Ron says, "To work with such an experienced engineer was fantastic and a great opportunity to exchange ideas and get exposed to different methods of doing things. It was also a good gauge of how users of other line array systems valued the Aero system."
When evaluating the experience of working with the Aero systems, Team Manager Ko comments, "The system sounds good and the LX-218A subwoofers are great. With a system like this, what's even more important is the level of technical support that a manufacturer can provide. To see a representative from the manufacturer is a great boost to our confidence as we are unfamiliar with the Aero system. No one knows the system as well as the manufacturers and they have done a good job in assisting our requirements."
