Puccini Valencia

The event was carried out by Tralakom-Stereorent using D.A.S.´s Aero systems

Almost 100 million citizens in the European Union -invest their time, talents and money to make a positive contribution through volunteering; to boost awareness and increase this already significant number of volunteers the EU has designated 2011 as the European Year of Volunteering. As part of the year's events the cultural initiative "Viva Europa 2011" aims to promote a European sense of community through a relevant cultural form rooted in European tradition: opera. The possibility for a wide European audience to enjoy live opera was made reality at Valencia's Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in the Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) Complex, where Valencian locals were able to enjoy Puccini´s "Opera Tosca" as it was broadcast live to audiences in all corners of Europe.

The event included the participation of the singers Oksana Dykam, Jorge de León and Bryn Teruel, the Valencia Regional Orchestra and the Valencia Regional Chorus, all led by the talented hand of renowned conductor Zubin Mehta. This concert was broadcast simultaneously in the 57 European cities in 21 countries that participate in the project. Citizens from Prague and Nicosia to Athens and Zagreb were able to simultaneously enjoy the event from their own countries.

In Spain, a total of 10 communities took part in this cultural initiative to watch the live broadcast of Puccini´s opera-Valencia was one of these lucky cities. Not only was the opera held at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, but a huge LED screen was set up at Valencia's centrally located and emblematic Plaza de la Virgen, complete with a large audience area consisting of more than 3,000 seats (not one of which was empty!).

The impressive audiovisual installation mounted for this occasion was carried out by TRALAKOM Solucions Audiovisuals, the Valencia branch of Barcelona based company Stereo Rent, who used D.A.S. Aero Series 2 line array systems to offer ideal sound coverage for the event. The company recently acquired 36 Aero 12A systems, 16 LX-218RA subwoofers systems and 4 DSP-2060 digital signal processors, which together with all the D.A.S. Aero 28A, CA-215A and Variant 25A equipment already available, gives the company the ability to provide sound for any type of event, no matter the size or genre.

Stereo Rent is a leader in the audiovisual sector, offering comprehensive audiovisual communication services to companies and institutions with the objective of achieving what they call "the communication spectacular."

For the live broadcast, six D.A.S. self-powered Aero 12A line array systems were mounted on each side of the enormous screen to provide coverage for the large audience area. D.A.S. LX-218RA subwoofers were also used to appropriately reinforce the low frequency band. These systems once again performed exceptionally both in terms of musical reproduction in the broadcasting of the opera itself as well as in word intelligibility during the pre-show messages..

In addition to the audiovisual coordination, TRALAKOM-Stereo Rent was also responsible for the event´s satellite television signal transmission, marking of spaces and uses in the Plaza de la Virgen as well as the plan for the smooth running of the event; in other words, for the third year running they were the event´s key logistical organization in this emblematic venue.
