“Por Ellas” Concert
D.A.S. sound systems at the "Por Ellas" (For Them) benefit concert
D.A.S. Audio Aero Series 2 systems were entrusted to handle the sound at the recent “Por Ellas (For Them)” benefit concert organized by Spanish radio station Cadena Cien. The event was held at Madrid’s Palacio de los Deportes and brought together some of the best female voices in Spanish pop, including Rosana, Luz Casal, Rosario, Malú, Chenoa and Vanesa Martín. The artists joined forces in the fight against breast cancer, with all proceeds of the concert benefitting the Spanish Cancer Association.
Madrid-based sound company Fluge was called in to handle the sound reinforcement for the concert and teamed up with D.A.S. Audio Events Engineer Joel Damiano, who made the trip to the Spanish capital to lend a hand with the system set-up and adjustment. The sound technicians needed a system that would pack the punch needed to fill the large stage and listening area with music while maintaining sound quality and decided to deploy systems from the D.A.S. Aero Series 2 catalogue of products for the “Por Ellas” concert.
The Fluge team flew 32 large-format D.A.S. Aero 50 systems as the main PA, rigging 16 systems in a class left/right arrangement on either side of the stage for even coverage across the venue. The Aero 50s were matched with twenty-four high-performance D.A.S. LX-218CA subwoofers, divided into two blocks of 12 units each ground stacked on each side of the stage in a cardioid configuration to flood the Palacio with bass.
The sound team rigged two linear configurations of six new D.A.S. Aero 40s that worked in tandem with the Aero 50s to provided crisp and powerful sound for the fans that packed the arena’s lateral stands. These systems were augmented by four Convert 15As for bass reinforcement, and to ensure extra coverage for the first few rows of the audience eight powered Covert 12As were set up for front fill. The system was rounded out with D.A.S. Road 12A and 15A stage monitors to cover the needs of the range of artists that performed at the “Por Ellas” concert.
The army of systems and the collaboration between Fluge and D.A.S. Audio to bring flawless sound to fans that descended upon the Palacio de los Deportes for the “Por Ellas” event resulted in a spectacular three-hour live music show from some of the biggest names in Spanish pop. The concert culminated with a group performance of the song “Color Esperanza” (The Color ‘Hope’), all of the artists coming together onstage to send a message of hope and solidarity to women who are fighting or have survived cancer.
