The “Mixing with Fernando Díaz” Master Class sponsored by D.A.S. Audio recently held a series of workshops held in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the United States, Puerto Rico and Columbia. These training workshops, taught by renowned mixing engineer Fernando Díaz and D.A.S. Audio engineers Joel Damiano and Vicent Olucha, were attended by hundreds of live sound engineers.

Fernando Díaz began his career in 1979 and has worked with the best artists in Spain and at some of the most important jazz, rock, and pop festivals as well as with international stars including Chuck Berry, BB King, George Michael, Duran Duran and Alejandro Sanz. His experience has earned him the reputation as one of the most sought after professionals in Spain, Latin America and the United States. Fernando Díaz gave a comprehensive clinic on live mixing at each of the seminars.

D.A.S. Audio Events Engineer Joel Damiano lectured on the theoretical and practical aspects of using the DASnet™ system. This remote monitoring and management system for D.A.S. systems and processors is extremely useful in setting up live sound systems. Damiano also spoke about system installation, rigging and adjustments.

D.A.S. Audio Systems Engineer Vicent Olucha spoke about the new D.A.S. Aero 40A Advanced Line Array Systems (ALAS™) as well as using the EASE Focus sound simulation system, an indispensable tool for designing and installing professional sound reinforcement systems for large-scale live-sound events.

The seminars were held in a number of countries across the Americas, specifically Mexico (Mexico City), the Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo), the United States (Miami), Puerto Rico (San Juan) and Colombia (Bogotá and Medellín). An average of 50 to 80 sound engineers, all live event professionals, attended each of the workshops, eager to share in the knowledge of “one of the greats” like Fernando Díaz who, along with the D.A.S. Audio Engineers, designed and imparted one of the most comprehensive training courses on the Latin American scene.
