Festival Cosquín 10
Over 100,000 fans attended the 12 nights of performances
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Cosquín Folklore Festival and once again thousands of fans from all over Argentina´s Córdoba province descended on Cosquín to celebrate. Over the last five years the festival has grown to depend on D.A.S. Audio's Aero sound systems, now just as standard a feature at the festival as the crowds that attend each year. Local company Martí Audio was in charge of managing the sound quality that needed to be adapted for the various performances.
This edition of the traditional summer event included 12 nights of performances as opposed to the nine nights typical of past years. Each moon, or night of the festival, the stage in Cosquín's Próspero Molina square hosted an average of 8,000 people who rocked out to concerts from their favourite artists. Some stand-outs included Gal Costa, Pablo Milanés, Los Olimareños, Soledad Pastorutti and Inti-Illimani, to name just a few of the well-known Argentinean and Latin American pop musicians.
The technicians at Martí Audio, headed by Ariel Martí himself, installed equipment including 24 new D.A.S. Aero 50 line array systems for the PA distributed in two lineal formations of 12 systems each. For in-fill, 12 D.A.S. Aero 12A line array systems were installed; six Aero 12A systems were hung as side reinforcements for the grandstand, while six Aero 28 systems were used for side fill on either side of the stage. Two D.A.S. Variant 25A systems were used to take care of the front fill, and the entire system was controlled with two Yamaha sound boards, models PM 5D and PM 4000.
Because of the stage's generous dimensions it was necessary to use large set of monitors from the different systems in D.A.S.'s product lines. The Aero 28 line array systems were used along with the corresponding CA-215 subwoofers, with support from mobile side fill equipment made up of two systems: the Compact 2 and Compact 218Sub. To meet the different groups' needs, a total of 24 SM-15A and SML-12A monitors were distributed as required across the entire stage, all from D.A.S.'s Stage Monitors series. Finally, the Compact 115 and CA-215 subwoofer systems were used as drum fill.
The sound system installation was without a doubt in keeping with the prestige and size of the event and the obvious quality of the artists at this 50th Edition of the Cosquín Folklore Festival, an event that has becomes one of the best on the American continent.
