Der Steiger 2014 Germany
D.A.S. Audio sound systems at the celebrity-filled Steiger Awards 2014 in Germany
|The LWL-Industriemuseum Henrichshuette in the German town of Hattingen recently played host to the coveted Steiger Award or Der Steiger, an international award presented in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in music, film, media, sports, the environment and building of the European community. Not only is the list of award recipients over the years a veritable who’s who of the world’s most influential people, but this glamorous annual ceremony has become a must-attend event for celebrities as well.
Award recipients Buzz Aldrin, Quincy Jones and Ute Lemper, presenters Jerry Hall and Bob Geldof, and dignitaries including Queen Sofia of Spain all walked the red carpet at this year’s Steiger Awards, where D.A.S. Audio professional sound systems were on hand to ensure exceptional sound for every seat in the house.
Nearby Bochum-based pro-audio company (and D.A.S. Audio network partner) Soundart GmbH & Co. KG was called in to stage this prestigious event, from sound and lighting to sets and staging. The technicians, needing a system that could provide crystal-clear speech intelligibility while delivering powerful sound for the number of performances given during the ceremony, opted to draw from the Aero Series 2 catalogue of products. The consistently high performance and precise, robust sound of these systems makes them the ideal sound solution at these types of events.
Soundart deployed a total of 18 ultra-compact Aero 8A enclosures at the LWL. These systems, designed to provide exceptional line array performance, were flown in a classic left-right configuration on either side of the stage. Sub-extension was handled by two high-performance LX-218CA powered subwoofers, ground stacked for an extra low frequency punch. The combined response of these systems provided flawless sound and full coverage for the entire audience area.
To guarantee concise sound coverage for the guests closest to the stage the technicians rounded out the system with four D.A.S. Audio Convert 12A for near-field. An additional four of these powered, two-way curved source array units, ideal for use at events of this size, were also used as delay loudspeakers.
According to Soundart CEO Benjamin Hartmann everyone across the board, from event organizers and sound technicians to the performers and guests, were pleased with the performance of the D.A.S. Audio professional sound systems. “The D.A.S. gear improved sound quality at this important event, providing precise sound for both speeches and performances. The Aero 8A and Convert 12A systems are always reliable and never fail to perform.”
