Daddy Yankee in the Dominican Republic with D.A.S. Audio
The famous Puerto Rican artist Daddy Yankee recently offered a spectacular performance in the Dominican Republic. Considered by many the “King of Reggaeton”, Daddy Yankee pulled out all the stops with a steady stream of hits for the 18,000 fans packed into the magnificent Hotel Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club in Puerto Plata. His unmistakable sound backed by D.A.S. Audio professional sound systems.
Dominican sound company ENLAB was brought in to take care of the sound for the event. The technicians decided to roll out D.A.S. Aero Series 2 systems for the Daddy Yankee concert, deploying 32 D.A.S. Aero 40A Advanced Line Array Systems (ALAS TM) for the main PA.
These modern systems from D.A.S. Audio’s Aero series of products, incorporate the latest in Class D amplification and are DASnetTM equipped for remote control and monitoring. The systems were rigged in a left-right set-up with 16 cabinets flown on each side of the stage.
An army of 24 powered D.A.S. LX-218CA subwoofers augmented the main PA handling low frequency support. These powerful units were ground stacked in eight blocks of three systems each in front of the stage.
D.A.S. Aero 12A were brought in to cover the sound for Daddy Yankee’s down-in-front-fans, with additional Aero 12A systems stacked on the LX-218CA subwoofers to handle side fill on the stage. The powerful range of systems at the artist’s disposal was rounded out with the Road 12A, D.A.S. Audio’s 12-inch powered stages monitor.
The length of the audience area at the Hotel Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club proved a challenge for the ENLAB technicians, who decided to set up eight additional Aero 40A systems to serve as delays. These systems provided outstanding coverage throughout the venue, even for those fans farthest from the stage.
The multifaceted Daddy Yankee, the stage name of Ramón Luis Ayala Rodriguez, has repertoire not only as a singer but as an actor, film producer, radio host and entrepreneur. His singing career was launched into the stratosphere with his explosive number one hit “Gasolina”, which was performed live in front of the ecstatic crowd in the Dominican Republic backed by superb sound from D.A.S. Audio professional sound systems.
