Convent of Sant Domènec
"Shopping Audiovisuales" chooses the D.A.S. Arco range
Built in the fourteenth century, the old Convent of Sant Domènec in Xátiva (Valencia) has regained its original appearance after a series of magnificent rehabilitation works carried out by the different public administrations at the local, regional and national level. More precisely, the old church has been converted into a multi-purpose room featuring all the necessary equipment to be used as a conference and exhibition room. This way, the medieval-style building takes on a new role as a socio-cultural space.
Among the different equipment introduced in the building, a special mention should be made of the sound system, installed by the "Shopping Audiovisuales", a local company run by Rafael Martínez Sabate. Due to the characteristics of the building and the potential of the room being used as a venue for meetings, conferences, talks and exhibitions, they chose a sound system from the D.A.S. Arco range. These systems are ideal for this type of venue thanks to their sleek design, their small size and their ease of installation with minimal visual impact.
10 Arco 24T were used on this occasion, spread throughout the old-sanctuary-turned-function-room with a seating capacity of some 200 people. These 2-way, highly-resistant ABS plastic enclosures include two 4-inch woofers with weather resistant polypropylene cones as well as a 25mm neodymium dome tweeter for brilliant highs. The units used here ("T" versions) are also equipped with a multi-tap transformer.
D.A.S. Arco systems receive the relevant audio signal through a modern Ambient A-240T Series amplifier. This built-in amplifier features 6 balanced input channels, the capacity to manage messages over 5 output zones and a graphic equalizer. It is specifically designed for use in 70/100 V line installations. The unit comes complete with an Event 14.24 Series mixer and a Disco HDJ-2270 Series CD/MP-3 player. The Ambient, Event and Disco series belong to the "Selected by D.A.S." range of products.
In addition, a DR DR-108A Series enclosure, located under a small gallery, acts as a stage monitor. It is a self-powered, full-range system which incorporates an 8-inch loudspeaker and a compression driver with titanium diaphragm. This completes an audio installation made up entirely by D.A.S. systems, which greatly complements the excellent restoration works made to this old Valencian convent.
Alter a many ups and downs over the course of its long history, including a fire in 1707 which almost completely destroyed it and the desertion of the venue following its confiscation in the nineteenth century - not to mention its role as a theatre and a cinema in the 60s and 70s -, the ancient convent now sets itself as a versatile social and cultural space. A great asset for the city of Xátiva, the birthplace of celebrities like José Ribera and the Popes of the House of Borgia, Alexander VI and Calixtus III.
