For another year running the D.A.S. Aero Series 2 line array systems on-hand at Arenal Sound Festival played a crucial part in the event’s continued success. Held annually at Arenal beach in Burriana (Castellón), this festival played host to top line-up of artists including Mika, John Newman, The Kooks and Dorian. Bad weather did little to stop the massive crowd of “sounders” from descending on the beach in Burriana to see their favorite bands perform, evidence of the enormous popularity which has turned Arenal Sound into Spain’s biggest festival of the year.

Sound production company Fluge was once again called in to handle the sound reinforcement for the festival and teamed up with D.A.S. Audio, whose systems were set up on the main stages. A veritable army of systems was deployed on the main Desperados stage, where the sound team decided to roll out 32 large-format D.A.S. Aero 50 line arrays, flown in linear formations of 16 units each on either side of the stage. These systems were matched with cutting-edge Lab.gruppen and Lake amplifiers with V5.5 presets.

Eighteen new ultra-low-frequency UX-221A subwoofers were also rigged at the Desperados stage to ensure superb low-frequency support, paired with nine LX-218CA subwoofers for exceptional punch. D.A.S. Aero 40A ALAS™ (Advanced Line Array System) handled out fill, while Convert 12A systems as front fill provided the best coverage possible for the festival’s down-in-front fans.

Convert 15A powered systems, stacked on the LX-218CA subwoofers, were used for side fill. The main-stage system was rounded out with powered D.A.S. Road 12A and 15A stage monitors. To provide even coverage for the long audience area two delay towers were set up with six D.A.S. Aero 50 line array systems were flown from each, their massive throw capacity ensuring perfect sound for the entire audience. All the systems rolled out for the Desperados stage was controlled by the DASnet™ remote management system.

The set-up at the Inside stage, where 20 D.A.S. Aero 50 were flown in two linear hangs of 10 systems each, was no less impressive. The Aero 50s were also matched with Powersoft amps with V5.5 presets. Twenty high-performance powered D.A.S. LX-218CA subwoofers, ground stacked in front of the stage, took care of low frequency support. Additional Aero 50s as out fill and Convert systems as front fill rounded out the D.A.S. gear deployed at the Inside stage.

The Red Bull Tour Bus also made a stop at the festival; this original “moving stage”, sponsored by the famous sports drink, makes its rounds to Spain’s biggest festivals and has been equipped with D.A.S. Aero Series 2 systems since it first hit the road.
