Arenal Sound 2013
D.A.S. Aero Series 2 line array systems take over Arenal Sound 2013
D.A.S. Aero Series 2 line array systems flooded the main stages at the 2013 Arenal Sound Festival. Held annually at Arenal beach in Burriana (Castellón), this four-day festival played host to numerous top-name artists including The Drums, Editors, Fuel Fandango and acclaimed DJ Steve Aoki. A massive crowd of 280,000 “Sounders” descended upon the Arenal to see their favorite bands perform on main stages Desperados and Legendario, both of which were installed exclusively with D.A.S. systems.
D.A.S. Audio once again deployed a formidable range of sound equipment for the festival with the help of the company’s Head Engineer Javier Navarro, who led the team responsible for the sound system design and set-up on the two stages. The new ALAS™ D.A.S. Aero 40A advanced line array systems were brought in for the festival for the first time after their successful debut at the recent Viña Rock 2013 festival.
A veritable army of systems was deployed on the main Desperados stage, where the sound team decided to roll out 32 large-format D.A.S. Aero 50 line arrays, flown in linear formations of 16 units each on either side of the stage. These systems were augmented by 36 powered D.A.S. LX-218CA subwoofers for low-frequency support, ground stacked in front of the stage in an electronic arc of 12 three-unit blocks ensure the widest coverage possible.
D.A.S. Convert 1560A powered systems, stacked on top of the LX-218CA subwoofers, handled side fill duties and were controlled using the DASnet™ audio management application. Additional Aero 12A units combined with Convert 1560A systems served as front fill.
To round out the system on the main Desperados stage the sound team brought in D.A.S. Road 12A and 15A stage monitors, arranged according to the particular needs of each group.
To provide even coverage for the long audience area two delay towers were once again positioned about 100 meters from the stage just behind the FOH tower. Eight D.A.S. Aero 50 line array systems were flown from each, their massive throw capacity ensuring perfect sound for the entire audience.
The system set-up at the Legendario stage, where an additional 24 new D.A.S. Aero 40A ALAS™ advanced line array systems were deployed for the first time at the festival, was no less impressive. The Aero 40As were divided into two linear formations of 12 units each and flown on either side of the stage. Twenty-four DAS LX-218CA powered high-performance subwoofers, ground stacked in front of the stage, took care of low frequency support.
Convert 12A powered systems, stacked on the LX-218CA subwoofers, were used for side fill, while Aero 12A systems were used as front fill. On stage, the artists were backed up by the powered D.A.S. Series Road stage monitors.
