Arenal Sound 2012
D.A.S. Aero Series 2 systems are back at Arenal Sound Festival
The huge banners that flanked either sides of the stage said it all: D.A.S. systems were going to play a key role at this year’s Arenal Sound festival. Roughly 250,000 “sounders” packed onto Burriana´s Arenal beach for this much anticipated five-day event. Concerts and performances took place on three different stages, two of which were installed exclusively with D.A.S. systems.
For the third year running D.A.S. Audio was at the front lines of Arenal Sound, charged with bringing the sound to the festival’s Legendario and Coca Cola main stages. Valencia´s most established sound reinforcement company Acústica and D.A.S. Audio´s Head Engineer, Javier Navarro, led the team responsible for supervising the design, set up and operation of the sound systems over the course of the festival.
The powerful D.A.S. equipment rolled out for the Legendario stage was formidable: 28 large-format Aero 50 line array systems set up in two lines of 14 units on either side of the stage and 12 Aero 12As per side for the outfills; an additional 16 boxes of Aero 50 were deployed for the delays, located just behind the FOH tower. Low frequency support was provided by 36 powered D.A.S. LX-218A subwoofers ground stacked in front of the stage in 16 blocks of two units and 4 stacks of 3 units closing each end of the line of subs. The subs were configured in an electronic arc to widen the horizontal coverage in the audience area.
D.A.S. debuted their powered Convert 15A.net systems at this year’s Arenal Sound, employing the systems for both side and front fill. Three Convert 15A.net per side, stacked in the vertical position on LX-218A subwoofers were used for side fill, along with one LX-218A and an Aero 12A for the drum fill. Front fill consisted of three Convert 15A´s per side stacked in the vertical position, with an additional four Aero 12A´s located in front of center stage for frontfill. The Convert 15A.net systems were controlled by DASnet, the audio management application for D.A.S. powered cabinets and processors. The equipment was rounded out with a complete group of D.A.S. Road 12A and 15A stage monitors.
The system set up at the Coca Cola stage was equally impressive: 20 Aero 50 line array systems were rolled in and placed in lines of 10 on opposite sides of the stage. Sixteen powered D.A.S. LX-218CA were ground stacked in front of the stage. Here as well Covert 12A self-powered systems stacked on LX-218A subwoofers took care of side fill, while Aero 8A systems were called in for front fill. The artists enjoyed the exceptional performance of the D.A.S. Road series stage monitors.
