Aero at July 4th Celebrations
"Advanced Audio Co"supplied D.A.S. Audio's powered line array sound for the festival
Last July 4th, the city of Sanford (Florida) held its much-awaited 4th July Festival to commemorate American Independence Day. The event took place at Fort Mellow Park on the shores of Lake Monroe and this year featured the group Starship starring lead singer Mickie Thomas and Red Eye Express.
The company "Advanced Audio Co", led by Jose Nazario supplied D.A.S. Audio's powered Aero 28A line array sound system for the festival, made up of 8 modules flown on each side of the main stage together with 4 ground-stacked CA-215A bass systems. Two relay towers, one at 450'-0", were installed using four CA-28A and two CA-215A units. The relay tower installation covered all of the lakeside pathways thanks to the excellent coverage offered by D.A.S. systems.
On stage Compact 115 and Compact Sub 18 systems were used for side-fill and drum-fill. Stage monitoring was handled by eight ST-015 monitors and Lab Gruppen amplifiers. According to José Nazario, "Starship's sound technician was extremely pleased with the performance of the D.A.S. equipment. It was the first time he had used it and he was very impressed."
This year the real difference was made by the delay towers which were installed to cover the culminating moment of the fireworks show, providing maximum sound pressure across the whole of Fort Mellow Park. "Sanford City Administrators and the event's producers praised the location and performance of the relay towers with respect to the main stage," affirms Nazario. "It was precisely what they were looking for; uniform sound and maximum sound pressure across all of Monroe Lake's pathways, without sacrificing sound quality." The Sanford City event attracted crowds of over 100,000 people on July 4th who excitedly awaited the night's firework finale.
