40 Pop Valencia
Superb sound at Valencia's 40 POP concert with D.A.S. systems
|Valencia’s Fallas festival is synonymous with more than just fireworks and the famous monuments created for the celebration. The Cadena Ser sponsored 40 POP Concert has been one of the largest and most-anticipated events during the Fallas festival week for 25 years running, bringing together thousands of music lovers with top international and national artists. This year D.A.S. Audio systems were on hand to provide the sound for this must-attend free concert that featured a line-up of groups Efecto Pasillo and El Viaje de Elliot as well as headliner Melendi.
The concert was held at the Agora esplanade next to the Hemisféric building at Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, an unbeatable open-air setting where over 20,000 fans gathered for an evening of great music. Sound for the concert was handled by D.A.S. Aero Series 2 systems, designed for large outdoor events where both adaptability and durability are a must. Local company Acoustics was called in to design the sound solution for the event and worked closely with Joel Damiano, D.A.S. Audio Systems Engineer, who assisted and supervised the sound set up.
An army of D.A.S. Audio Aero 50 line array systems were rolled out for the main system at this year’s 40 POP. Specifically, two linear formations of 12 units each were flown on either side of the stage in a standard left/right configuration. For low frequency boost the Aero 50s were matched with 24 D.A.S. LX-218CA subwoofers, ground stacked in front of the stage in 12 blocks of two units each. Powersoft K6DSP digital signal processors handled the signal for the Aero 50s.
Front fill was taken care of by six powered D.A.S. Aero 12A line arrays ground stacked in three blocks of two units each in front of the stage to provide solid coverage for the first few rows of the audience area. In order to ensure clear sound for the massive concert grounds the sound team decided to set up two relay towers positioned in the middle of the audience area, deploying eight D.A.S. Aero 50 systems in each. The towers guaranteed uniform system response and eliminated signal delay issues for concert goers located farthest from the stage.
The combination of stellar performance and superb sound provided by D.A.S. Audio made this year’s concert yet another 40 POP success. As its 25 years of history attests, this traditional event sponsored by Cadena Ser through its “Top 40” radio program (and inspiration for the concert’s name) has its future guaranteed. Not surprisingly, since some of the biggest names in music have taken to the 40 POP stage over the last two decades, including Black, Texas, The Communards, Miguel Bosé, Luz, Julieta Venegas and La Oreja de Van Gogh.
